#Volunteers that will travel to Africa this summer, please make sure that you speak to your health care provider concerning Yellow Fever and whether should you be vaccinated before your adventure. According to a recent post on the World Health Organization's page, this week "the Democratic Republic of the Congo's(DRC) Ministry of Health declared a #YellowFever epidemic in three of its provinces! Concern continues to grow about the spread of the disease in the DRC, especially in border zones regions and in densely populated Kinshasa. The capital of the DRC, Kinshasa, has a population of more than 10 million people.
WHO believes the daily disease surveillance is vital to halt the recent outbreak. Therefore, WHO teams are actively looking for new cases. More than 2 million people in #Kinshasa have been vaccinated through May to June 2016 in an effort to control the outbreak. With the support of WHO and their partners, the government will #vaccinate an additional 3 million people in other health zones in the #DRC". Volunteers4Humanity.org
