Miracle Rescue in Nepal

  1. Associated Press writers Binaj Gurubacharya, Foster Klug and Johnson Lai in Kathmandu, and Nirmala George in New Delhi described the accounts of finding two survivors amidst the Kathmandu rubble five days after the massive earthquake.Pempa Tamang, a 15-year-old boy, and Krishna Devi Khadka, a young lady quoted to be in her 20s were disentangled from the debris. Although they were in the same neighborhood, they were discovered at different locations. The news of rescuing these survivors has instilled hope of finding others alive.  The U.S. Geological Survey reported that Nepal has had over 70 aftershocks since the 7.9 earthquake on April 25, 2015. Thus far, the Government of Nepal announced that the death toll is 6,130 dead with an additional 13,827 injured.
