The 2015 Global Tuberculosis Report, released by the World Health Organization(WHO), announced that there were 1.5 million deaths worldwide (890000 men, 480000 women, and 140000 children) caused by TB in 2014 with India accounting for the highest incidence of cases. The report also declared that the majority of these deaths could have been prevented.
